This makes me think that either by his Saiyan genes or him just being Goku, he's more or less asexual as a teen. After marriage, though, we do see some glimpses of him having feelings for Chi Chi but they're never really explained to be actual romantic or him just caring for her as a companion and person he's close to. To make things worse, there's the Toriyama quote of him saying Goku doesn't see his family as wife, son, etc. Even in the new chapter of the Super manga where he says he likes Chi Chi it's just that, like. Not love, care for, he's "into her", etc.Īs an adult he also never shows any signs of libido or even caring about "female anatomy" save for the time he told Elder Kai that Bulma has bigger "chi chis" than Chi ChiĪlso, he has no issue staying dead and thus not getting "any" from his wife or being away from her for long periods of time. From this I can only take away that Goku is essentially asexual.
Now to be fair, Dragon Ball isn't the type of show that focuses on sex (save for jokes and gags) and Goku could genuinely enjoy sex, but the way his character is portrayed, I don't think he cares about it. He may find it fun in the moment but it's so far behind training, fighting and food as an interest that really he doesn't give two shits about it. I will say that he does like Chi Chi a lot. Not as a wife but as a very close companion which can be seen when he picks her up after getting better from the heart virus. Vegeta: In real life and history, many warriors and barbarians had large sex drives and regularly raped while pillaging and conquering, but are the Saiyans like that? I say no, due to Toriyama's own comments on love in Saiyan couples being rare and only happening for children and the Saiyans not being that populous of a species. Now the second part can be explained by them fighting and dying so much, but if anything more kids = more warriors so their small population would be a bad thing not a benefit. It seems like it's just Saiyan biology to value fighting way more than sex. The way I see it, when Vegeta was going around exterminating species, he could've gotten their women if he wanted to, but he knew he would've had more fun killing them. I actually believe that Bulma is the first girl he ever got with due to his genocidal behavior and his obsession with one day beating Frieza and battling.Īs an earthling, though, I see Vegeta as enjoying sex as much as any other guy which is a result of:Ģ. Bulma having a high sex drive herself.Īlso, unlike Goku, Vegeta actually loves her even though he'd still have a problem saying those words. He'll show it through his actions and say other words to dance around it, but he does. Vegeta did say so himself during the Saiyan arc that he's not interested in conceiving powerful hybrids due to the consequences it can bring and he pretty much implied he's a virgin to Bulma after the Frieza arc.
It's one of the reasons why I love the idea behind the Saiyans being a warrior race and how it relates to Goku's character. Saiyans don't care for sex like humans would (Since they only see it as a way to produce, and nothing desirable) and thus are more capable of acting rationally when it comes to it. Hence why Vegeta never had his way with woman even when he could and didn't allow any form of desire to cloud his thinking when it came to producing hybrids.
If you want to go even deeper into psychological factors, lets say Vegeta was human.
